How to Increase Google Page Rank of Your Blog: Blogging Tips for Beginners
As soon as you have set up your own blog, the first thing you want to know is how to make Google notice your blog and give it a great page ranking. The excitement of seeing a pretty decent Google page rank for your blog is tough to put into words. So, let us just get right to the point and start from the beginning.
What is a Google Page Rank?
According to Matt Cutts, who is the head of Webspam department, Google page rank (also known as PR) is the number and importance of links that a website / blog receives. It is always denoted as a number between 0 and 10, with 0 being the least and 10 being the most.
Why Should You Care About Google Page Rank?
Well, the reasons are many. Google tends to use page rank as an important criterion to decide how faster, how deep and often it should send the spiders to crawl your blog / site. Typically, the crawling is more favorable to sites with higher page rank, which means that a higher page rank site will be crawled more often than a comparatively lower ranking site.
Moreover, a higher page rank naturally confers higher authority and reputation to the site.
How Does Google Page Rank Relate to SEO?
We all are desperately trying to optimize our blogs and sites for the search engines and Google page rank comes in here as well. Google has always been emphasizing on providing relevant and quality results to people who use the search engine to find info on different topics.
Well, your page rank will determine how visible your blog will be to the people searching for info related to your niche. In simple words, it means that the blogs with higher page rank in a certain niche are considered to be more relevant in the eyes of Google than another blog within the same niche but with lower page rank.
When Should You Be Worried About Your Google Page Rank?
A page rank of 0 is something that seems straight out of a horror film for many bloggers and webmasters. Well, the fear of the zero is understandable as the usual tendency is to consider sites with zero page rank as spammy and low quality. But not all such sites are spam sites. It takes time and links to build your page rank, so if your blog is pretty new then obviously you are stuck for quite a while with the zero tag.
When Will Your Google Page Rank Change?
Google reviews sites on a continuous basis, but displays the results publicly approximately once in every 3/ 4 months, so that means if your blog is under 4 months of age, then you can hopefully look forward to a change in page rank soon. The last confirmed Google page rank update was on May 3rd, 2012. There was another update on August, 2nd, 2012, since I wrote this post.

That really can’t be predicted Arun. We bloggers can only do our best, avoid the pitfalls and then cross our fingers. We got to leave the rest to Google.
Now my blog itself is a good example. I started my blog in Dec 2011 and with the PR update in Feb 2012 I went from 0 to 2. But I have since grown my blog in terms of quality content, traffic, back links and what not. But the PR hasn’t budged and yet we can see new blogs (mostly in tech niche) jumping from PR 0 to 3 directly or at least improving with every PR update in 3 months.

First of all I am not a ‘Sir’
my name is Dr. Kavita and secondly the time taken to get an increased page rank is not fixed. Some sites manage to get back links within 15 days of launching their site and so directly may go to page rank 2 at the next PR update, while some other sites may either go down from high to low PR or stick to same PR for even 2-3 years.
Everything depends upon number of quality back links.

Great post, ive been trying to raise my pagerank for ages it feels like and though i rank ok for the keywords i choose, i still do have a 0 page rank. My blog is deff not spammy at all however. I wonder if there is anything more i can do but after reading this post – i guess time and more content and higher authority back links would be the way togo.
i never really set out to get backlinks, and didn’t really see the importance of it – well i knew they where important but i guess i just didn’t allow for it in my schedule. I think i should really spend more time doing this.

1) Start searching for high PR sites (with niches related to your blog) that have commentluv plugin enabled and offer “dofollow links”. Leave meaningful comments on such blogs
2)Actively post guest posts on high PR sites
Both these tips will make a great difference and are the most easiest/ painless ways to get back links that matter

As far as I believe, PR has not much factor in SERP. Ofcourse like you said Crawling factor will matter and google will visit sites of high PR more frequently than less PR.

Whether is it required to wait for some more time to start Backlinks and whether reciprocal links helps to increase Page Rank or need to search for one way links.

Welcome to my blog. I am not sure why anyone would suggest avoiding links for the first few months. Back links are a crucial factor used by search engines to determine the popularity, usefulness and quality of your content.
When many other bloggers link back to your content, it is seen by search engines as a vote of confidence / as a vote of recommendation regarding quality of the content.

Nice post. The one thing to keep in mind while building link from any site is that how many links are going out to from that site to other site or blogs. Because if the quantity of outgoing links are more from where you making link for your site will be not as good as if you are making a link from site which have very few outgoing links.

Ivan, page rank is very important especially when you want to monetize your blog. Advertisers prefer blogs with higher PR and you must be already aware that the revenue generated from displaying such ads goes higher with higher PR. There is no content on your site to optimize. How have you been doing SEO without any content? Try adding a blog section and kep updating the blog daily with fresh and non-plagiarized content. You should see an improvement by the time of the next Google page rank update, due in Sep, 2012.
Filez i don’t think only SEO will help you to get good rank.
You need huge amount of Visitor and Good Backlink(No Spammy) from high authority sites.
As Kavita mam told you high quality and non-plagiarized content. Yeah its always matters.
