I would love to work from home exclusively but at this point, I am not ready to do so. My day job at the VA hospital pays all the bills, food etc. and I would be foolhardy to retire at this point in time. I have another year to go before I can retire on a plan designed for older employees that came on board at later time of life. Even combined with my partial Social Security retirement check, it would not be enough income to live comfortably. As you know, I am developing a website for my freelance writing business but seem to be light-years away from having it make signifigant impact on my bank account. I actually like my job at the VA hospital and would miss caring for our veterans. However, the physicality of the job is wreaking havoc on my arthritis and making my assignments more difficult than in the past. I am confident with your helpful, informative articles and advice and my general tenacity (Irish stubbornness), things will begin to take shape in a reasonable time-frame…here’s hoping.

Thanks, Dr. Kavita! This is a very good round up of ways for those in their sixties (like myself) to supplement their retirement income. Many baby boomers are continuing to work past retirement age simply because they have no other choice because the money they set aside either in Social Security or a retirement fund is simply not enough. This gives alternative ways to retire.
